February 21st, 2008, the Maumee Valley …
It may be dreary outside, but spring is on the way at Bensell’s Greenhouse, 5720 Dorr Street in Toledo.
Bensell’s proprietress Mary Machon is excited about the cool weather vegetable plants she’s growing from seed, which will be ready in March, just in time for Maumee Valley gardeners to set out her heirloom varieties of radish and lettuce, plus collards, kale, mustard, parsnips, and cabbage.
Bensell’s, founded in 1926, has a long history of providing top quality plants to local gardeners.
Machon, who took over the greenhouse last year, continues to offer a full range of ornamentals (including a
spectacular collection of bonsai), herbs, and, in season, annuals and vegetable plants.
Bensell’s is open seven days a week year-round, from nine to six Monday through Saturday and Sundays from noon to five pm.
